Our Goals

Our short-term goal is to have our students meet critical reading benchmarks that will support their reading level success while at the same time increasing their interest in and excitement around reading and school.

Our medium-term goal is to have our students served be at or above reading level in 3rd – 5th grade.

Our long-term goal is to have our students graduate high school at or above grade level with intent of and access to either secondary education, military service, or livable wage employment.

Our Mission

The mission of the Lead to Read  AmeriCorps program is to serve communities in rural Northeastern Oklahoma that are sparsely populated and have very limited resources. We do this by providing opportunities for people within these small communities to serve as AmeriCorps members in their local school districts (for a low host site fee) as reading tutors for students in grades Kindergarten through Fifth grade.
