Oklahoma AmeriCorps

Oklahoman's are struggling with literacy, poverty and food security. At Oklahoma AmeriCorps, we believe we can change that through service.

What We Do: We provide Oklahoma AmeriCorps members with the leadership, communication and career skills training they need to tackle our state’s most pressing problems.

How We Do It: We connect our well-trained, motivated members with nonprofits, school districts and community-based programs throughout the state through 8 programs.

How We Help: Our members help nonprofits expand their missions to support economic opportunity, education and food security in local communities.

Why We Do It: We exist to serve. Our mission is to strengthen Oklahoma communities, develop leaders, provide opportunities and improve the quality of life in our state through service. Since 1994, more than 11,000 Oklahoman's of all ages and backgrounds have helped us grow our mission. We believe that when we all work together, we all make an impact.

AmeriCorps State & National

Every year, 75,000 AmeriCorps members serve through 21,600 schools, non-profits, and community and faith-based organizations across the country. These citizens have played a critical role in the recover of communities affected by Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria. They also tutor and mentor young people, connect veterans to jobs, care for seniors, reduce crime and revive cities, fight the opioid epidemic, and meet other critical needs.

Since 1994, AmeriCorps members have provided more than 1.4 billion hours of service and earned more than $3.6 billion in education scholarships, more than $1 billion of which had been used to pay back student debt. Those interested in joining AmeriCorps can learn more at AmeriCorps.gov/Join
